The Lagos State Government has reopened the Ogudu-Ifako Bridge following successful repairs on its four expansion joints. The bridge, which had been closed to vehicular traffic since June 28, was initially expected to be ready in 100 days but was completed in just 73 days.

The repairs covered a 400-meter stretch of the bridge, with the first four phases completed between June 28 and August 16. The subsequent phases, which addressed the Ogudu/Ifako inbound Oworoshoki axis, have also been finalized and are now open to traffic.

Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Mr. Olufemi Daramola, along with Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Seun Osiyemi, inspected the completed work. Daramola noted that the expedited completion was due to collaboration among stakeholders and the commitment of contractors, emphasizing that the repairs were necessary for the safety of motorists.

Both officials expressed gratitude to Lagos residents for their patience during the closure. They assured the public that ongoing infrastructure improvements remain a priority, with future maintenance planned for the Maza-Maza area.

Commuters have welcomed the reopening, noting that it will ease traffic congestion significantly and reduce travel times.
