The Lagos State Government has announced plans to publish the names of individuals and organisations that have failed to pay their Land Use Charge (LUC), beginning in April 2025.

The announcement was made by Mr. Tajudeen Mahmud, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Finance, who said the measure aims to boost compliance, improve transparency, and enhance the state’s internally generated revenue for public infrastructure and services.

Mahmud revealed that despite widespread distribution of LUC bills and several reminders, a significant number of property owners remain delinquent. “The Land Use Charge is critical to funding infrastructure. Continued default undermines the government’s ability to meet the needs of the people,” he stated.

He warned that the public naming of defaulters would be followed by legal actions, including potential receivership of properties in line with provisions of the Land Use Charge Law of 2020.

The Ministry has urged residents to verify their LUC payment status and clear any outstanding bills to avoid embarrassment and possible legal consequences. Property owners seeking clarification are advised to contact the LUC Contact Centre at Block 12, The Secretariat, Alausa-Ikeja.

This latest move reinforces the Lagos State Government’s commitment to fiscal discipline and equitable contribution to the city’s development.
