The Kemta Divisional Police under the Ogun State Police Command has reported the discovery of the decomposing body of a 45-year-old tenant, Tolulope Olusanya, late Monday night in Abeokuta.

The incident came to light after the landlord, Adebesin Adebayo, raised the alarm about Olusanya’s absence over several days at her residence on Shittu Street, Madojutimi Abiola Way. Concerned about her whereabouts, Adebayo reported the matter to the police around 8:15 PM on Monday.

According to the police, a strong, unpleasant odour coming from the apartment prompted suspicions. The door was locked from the inside, which led to further concerns. Upon arriving at the scene, detectives from the Kemta Division broke into the apartment and found Olusanya’s swollen body lying on the bed, indicating she had been dead for some time.

Efforts to transport the body to a medical facility were hindered by the lack of proper equipment to handle the remains safely. Attempts to contact her family or immediate relatives were also unsuccessful, and the authorities are continuing investigations into the case.

The scene has been cordoned off as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding Olusanya’s death.

This incident is reminiscent of a similar case in November 2024, when a man was found dead in his apartment under unusual circumstances in the same area of Abeokuta.
