A partnership between Lagos State Government and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has been announced to provide affordable housing for Lagos residents and Nigerians abroad.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and FHA Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Oyetunde Ojo expressed their commitment to this goal during a recent visit to Lagos House, Marina.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that FHA’s vision is aligned with the Lagos State Government’s aim of meeting the housing needs of all segments of the population. To reduce housing deficits, his administration has commissioned 18 housing estate projects throughout the state.
During his speech, the governor stressed the importance of collaboration, saying, “The Federal Housing Authority is known for opening new areas, new cities, and corridors.” We can collaborate. There are a lot of needs for Lagosians that we can collaborate on.”
In addition, he promised to provide land for FHA, referring to it as “our (Lagos’) own oil,” and urged the agency to begin operations as soon as it gets approval
On his part, Hon. Oyetunde, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for its achievements in infrastructure development, housing is crucial to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, according to Hon. Oyetunde Ojo.
He advocated for collaboration between the state government and FHA and highlighted Lagos State’s role as a pioneer in housing models in West Africa.
