A late-night fire has devastated a well-known market in Masaka, located in the Karu local government area of Nasarawa State. The blaze broke out late Friday night and continued into the early hours of Saturday morning.
An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, described the scene as “crazy.” She recounted, “My sister has a shop in the market. We arrived around 12:30 am after receiving a call about the fire. We were there until 4 am, and almost half of the market was consumed by the flames.”
Fortunately, her sister’s shop was not affected. “Thank God for the firefighters who responded quickly. If not for their efforts, the entire market could have been completely destroyed,” she added.
The incident has left many local vendors in distress as they assess the damage to their businesses.
