The Nasarawa State Ministry of Health has closed more than 20 healthcare facilities that failed to meet the necessary operational standards. Dr. John Damina, the permanent secretary of the ministry, announced this decision during a recent inspection of health facilities in Karu, the headquarters of the Karu Local Government Area.

This routine inspection, which covered all 13 local government areas, aims to combat illegal medical practices and ensure adherence to healthcare standards throughout the state. Dr. Aguh, another official, stressed the government’s commitment to eliminating medical quackery and expressed concern over the rising number of illegal healthcare providers.

“This closure is a critical step in reducing quackery and ensuring that healthcare services are delivered safely and effectively,” he stated. He urged unregistered facilities to complete their registration to avoid further sanctions, reinforcing that the government would not tolerate operations outside regulatory guidelines.
