The Director-General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Prof. Samson Duna has called on members of the Association of Housing Corporations In Nigeria (AHCN) and private developers in the country’s housing sector make use of locally sourced and developed building materials which he said are abundant in the country.
Duna, a Professor of Civil Engineering and a member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) disclosed this yesterday at a 2- Day National Workshop on ‘Addressing Housing Challenges of Low and Medium Income Earners Through Alternative Building Materials’, hosted by NBRRI at its administrative headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
“I wish to seize this opportunity to call on members of the Association (AHCN) ad private developers in the housing industry to fall back on the use of locally sourced and developed building materials which are abundant in the country, Duna said.
He further revealed that NBRRI was established to improve the quality of life of Nigerians in the area of affordable housing and increased economic empowerment through integrated Research and Development (R&D), Capacity Building and robust Extension Services.
It is important to note that (the) Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute was established to improve on the quality of life of Nigerians in the area of affordable housing and increased economic empowerment through integrated Research and Development (R&D), Capacity Building and robust Extension Services in the built sector of the Nigerian economy.
“In line with its mandate, NBRRI has evolved using a comprehensive integrated approach in appropriate technology development and transfer, suitable capacity building and investment promotion to foster the application of environment friendly and energy efficient innovative construction materials, manufacturing technologies for cost- effective in building and road construction, the DG added.
