The Chairman of Ado Odo-Ota Local Government, Ogun state, Hon. Sherrif Adewale Musa recently called for a synergy between the local government and the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), mainly leveraging on the institute’s technology in the construction of legislative buildings and roads for the local government secretariat.

Hon. Musa made this known when he received members of NBRRI led by its Coordinator, Chuka C Osadebe, National Laboratory Complex in Ota, Ogun State.

Describing NBRRI as a household name, Hon. Musa said developing a synergy between the two bodies will help to advertise NBRRI’s products and create an avenue where its products will be seen, including that at the Olota of Ota palace.

Speaking on behalf of the institute and presenting a letter from the Director General of NBRRI, Engr. Prof. Samson Duna, Osadebe said the visit was with due authorization of the DG who gave the mandate to meet with the chairman and seek for approval of areas where NBRRI bricks will be used for the construction of three bus stops in the local government. He then presented the letter from the DG/CEO to the chairman.

Engr. Dr. Friday. Apeh equally responded to the chairman, that if they want NBRRI to be fully involved in using her technology in the local government, they should tell their representatives from the local government at the Federal Legislature, to include such projects they desire in the constituency projects through NBRRI. This he said will ease the process and such project will be captured in the budget.

Also in response, the Director of Road and Housing in the local government added that local government is the closest organ of the government to the people and that NBRRI should update the Road and Housing Department of the local government time to time on their research findings, probably on quarterly basis, so that they can come in where necessary and put it into action.

The secretary to the local government on behalf of the chairman and the local government, appreciated NBRRI and said that he believes that this visit will yield good results.
