Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, while donating 20 operational vehicles to security personnel as part of efforts to reduce crime in Minna, the state capital, has ordered the demolition of all buildings in the state capital that house illicit drugs.
Governor Bago reiterated that his administration will not tolerate criminal activities in the state.
The Nigeria Police Force received 12 of the 20 operational vehicles, while the State Security Service (SSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) each received two.
Minna made headlines last week when robbers attacked an Emirate official and stole millions.
Gunmen had tracked the officials down from a bank and robbed him in front of the Emir of Minna’s palace. In the incident, two palace guards were killed.
Bago had gone to see the monarch to express his condolences. He had called the attack an assault on traditional institutions and promised that his administration would not tolerate it.
