The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting dust haze across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

In the forecast released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet expects moderate dust haze in the northern region on Monday, with visibility ranging from 2 km to 5 km. Localized visibility may drop to 1 km or less during this period.

The North Central states are also anticipated to experience moderate dust haze, with similar visibility conditions.

In the southern parts of the country, early morning mist or fog is expected, alongside moderate dust haze with visibility between 2 km and 5 km.

For Tuesday, thick dust haze is forecasted for the northern region, while the North Central region will see moderate dust haze with visibility ranging from 1 km to 3 km. In the south, early morning mist or fog is likely over coastal cities, with moderate dust haze expected.

On Wednesday, thick dust haze is again predicted for the northern region, with the North Central area experiencing similar conditions. The southern parts will continue to see early morning mist or fog, along with moderate dust haze.

NiMet advises the public to take necessary precautions due to suspended dust particles in the air. People with respiratory issues, such as asthma, should be particularly cautious.

The agency encourages adherence to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities and advises airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning. Residents are urged to stay updated on weather conditions by visiting NiMet’s website at www.nimet.gov.ng.
