The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thundery weather conditions across the country from Sunday, April 20, to Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
According to the weather outlook released on Saturday, localized thunderstorms are expected in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, and southern Kaduna States during the afternoon or evening on Sunday. The North Central region will experience partly cloudy skies in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms anticipated later in the day over Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kwara, Niger, and Kogi States.
In the southern region, a cloudy morning is expected, with local thunderstorms likely in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Delta States. Further thunderstorms are predicted over several states, including Anambra, Oyo, and Lagos, in the afternoon and evening.
On Monday, sunny skies are expected across the northern region, although isolated thunderstorms may occur in parts of Adamawa, Kaduna, and Taraba. The southern region will see cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine and potential morning thunderstorms.
By Tuesday, sunny skies with a few clouds are forecast for the northern region, with isolated thunderstorms possible in parts of Taraba. The southern region will continue to face local thunderstorms throughout the day.
NiMet advises the public to stay hydrated, avoid overcrowding, and protect themselves from direct sunlight. Airline operators are encouraged to consult NiMet for specific weather reports to aid in flight planning.
