NITP to hold confab on regenerating Nigerian cities

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) has concluded plans to host its 50th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting from 28 October to 1 November 2019 at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

The National President of the institute, Mr Lekwa Ezutah, in a statement issued by the NITP’s National Public Relations Secretary, Mr Sani Daniel in Abuja, noted that the conference carries the theme: “Regenerating Nigerian Cities”.

He said the event will encourage town planners to make use of basic principles of the profession to achieve excellence.

Ezutah said town planners who were elected into public offices in the last general elections and those appointed into political offices will be celebrated.

Dignitaries  expected at the event  include: Uko Nkole, Member Federal House of Representatives; Darius Ishaku, the governor of Taraba State; Ramatu Tijani, Minister of Stae, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) among others.

The statement explained that the decision to hold of conference in Ibadan stems from the city’s strategic historical relevance, being the place where the professional body was formed in 1966.

The Oyo State Governor, Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde is expected to declare the conference open on 28th October 2019.
