The Chairman of the Nasarawa Town Development Association (NTDA), an umbrella body of the Nasarawa local government, Arc. Ibrahim Uzaibat has commended the federal government for awarding the rehabilitation of the Nasarawa – Toto – Abaji federal road spanning about 138 km, the road he said was last rehabilitated during the era of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF)’s road projects in 1994.
“The situation of the road as at today is an eyesaw’, he began.
” Greater parts of the roads were affected by erosion. In fact, several bridges along the road were already damaged. To say the least, the road is almost unmotorable”.
Arc. Uzaibat further said that as a result of the “ugly situation” of the road, criminal activities had been going on unabated.
The rehabilitation of the road he added is of huge socio economic importance to the country in general, as it will also improve the development of the North Central region of the country.
He enumerated more by saying that “most commercial vehicles conveying goods and passengers from the north eastern states including Gombe, Bauchi via Plateau pass through this road to the southern parts of the country”.
