The administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has demolished a property belonging to Dr Pius Odubu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state.
It was gathered that Odubu’s property located on Denis Osadegbe Avenue GRA, Benin, was occupied by Odubu’s younger brother and other members of his family.
Odubu’s building was demolished alongside those of Mr Mike Etemuagbon and Prof. Julius Ihonvbere. All those whose buildings were pulled down are allies of the immediate past governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole. Odubu described the demolition as unfortunate, saying the matter is already in court.
“I read it on the Nigeria Observer newspaper in January that the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to the property situated at Dennis Osadebe Avenue in the Government Reserve Area (GRA) in Benin has been revoked. “
The information came to me this afternoon, March 23, that my property situated at Dennis Osadebe avenue has been brought down by agents of the government on the directive of the governor.
“Before now, my attention was brought to a publication in the Observer newspaper in January that the C of O of my property have been revoked without prior notice given to me.
“I went to court in the matter and I am surprised that after they have been served, the government still went ahead to bring down my house with a bulldozer.
He said his younger one was in the house when it was demolished, adding that they didn’t give notice nor allowed to remove any of their properties before pulling down the building. Nigerian Observer
