On Thursday, the Ogun State Government began demolishing shanties and other temporary buildings placed beneath public spaces and bridges throughout the state.
The action was headed by Farouk Akintunde, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Environment. He stated that the demolition activity was carried out following
the expiration of the notice given to the dealers.
He continued by saying that Insecurity has been the order of the day, since the shanties have turned into a haven for crooks.
“We have issued them a notice since last year, but they have refused to leave,” Akintunde stated. The expiration date of the notification has passed. We are coming to destroy all improvised, shanties, and unlawful structures for this reason.
The authorities will not put up with this since these shantytowns have turned into havens for criminal activity. It’s an ongoing workout.
