Ogun state Commissioner for Budget and Planning Olaolu Olabimtan has disclosed that, four thousand housing units are being developed in various parts of the State to make the Rural areas of the State livable.
The commissioner outlined the purpose of the state’s current General Household Survey (GHS) and said that the housing projects were among the government’s initiatives aimed at improving people’s quality of life and preventing rural-urban drift.

Olabimtan added that in Abeokuta, the state capital, the government has begun the Ibara and Idi Aba GRA infrastructure upgrade and regeneration projects.

Among the government’s interventions, he mentioned the building of 200 high-end duplexes at PMB Estate in Kobape through a PPP (Public-Private-Partnership) programme; 200 affordable housing units in Gateway Aviation Village, Iperu; 250 affordable housing units in Kobape Phase III; and 100 mixed housing units at the OPIC Estate, Warewa, Isheri.

According to Olabimtan, the GHS would surpass the National Bureau of Statistics’ (NBS) multi-dimensional poverty index and help the government create a framework for planning and development.

According to him, E-Services Nigeria Limited had been commissioned by the state to – in collaboration with the state Bureau of Statistics – carry out the survey in within six months.

Olabimtan stated that “The survey will allow the government to assess the impact of the various policies it has been implementing in the last four and half years in such areas as education, health, job creation, empowerment and other social interventions.

“The GHS will produce indicators needed for the design and monitoring of the implementation of various State Development Plans (SDPs), the commissioner said.

additionally, he said, the survey will enhance the establishment of baselines on different data points in the state and allow for the implementation of the lined-up interventions.
