The Oyo State Government on Tuesday stepped into the ongoing boundary dispute with neighbouring Osun State, urging both parties to halt public hostilities and allow room for mature and peaceful resolution.
In a statement issued in Ibadan by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, the Oyo government called for an end to the blame game that has dominated the media in recent weeks. The state expressed concern that such inflammatory public exchanges only serve to heighten tensions and distract from efforts being made by both state governments.
Oyelade highlighted that Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Ademola Adeleke of Osun are actively cooperating with the National Boundary Commission through their appointed representatives. He stressed that both administrations view the dispute as resolvable and are committed to an amicable outcome.
He further stated that traditional institutions should not obstruct progress in achieving peace, emphasizing the importance of collective restraint and dialogue in reaching a lasting solution to the long-standing land issue.
