In a bid to address housing challenges and deficits in housing in the state, the Oyo state government says it plans to construct 20 more housing projects and expand Government Reserved Areas (GRAs) in partnership with professionals.
The State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Olusegun Olayiwola revealed this at the inauguration of 15th executive of the Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Oyo State branch
He said the new projects will be undertaken by professionals.

Olayiwola stated that the agenda of the present administration would reposition housing industry in the state.
While receiving a merit award on behalf of the governor, the commissioner noted that Governor Seyi Makinde, has always regarded professionals in various fields, urging estate surveyors and valuers to partner with government to abate collapse of buildings in the state.

Speaking on the topic ‘Urban Services for Effective Housing Systems’, the guest lecturer, Dr. Kolawole Adebayo, advocated a responsive form of governance with proper legislation in providing adequate public services to support the nation’s housing schemes.
Also, the newly inaugurated chairman, Oyo state branch of the institution, Adebayo Emmanuel, assured that his administration would leave no stone unturned in the area of public advocacy, professionalism and research development, as well as members welfare amongst others.
