Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has taken a strong stance against individuals and groups involved in the illegal sale and acquisition of government properties. He directed those in possession of such assets to surrender them immediately to avoid severe repercussions.

In a statement released by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang emphasized the government’s determination to recover properties that rightfully belong to the people. He announced plans to establish a proactive task force aimed at thoroughly investigating and retrieving government assets sold without due process.

“Let me declare that we will establish a task force to recover all government properties currently in illegal possession or occupation across the state and beyond. Anyone in possession of government property acquired illegally should surrender it now before we come for them,” he warned.

The governor also addressed the unauthorized sale of government property, promising that perpetrators would be uncovered and face severe punishment. “It is only a matter of time before we catch up with such individuals,” he added.

Mutfwang made it clear that those holding fraudulent Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) would not escape justice. He stated that no one, regardless of their status, would be exempt from investigation. “A grace period will be given for voluntary surrender. However, if we have to come after you, the resources spent on the recovery process will not go in vain—you will bear the full cost,” he asserted.

Additionally, the governor disclosed plans to reorganize and strengthen the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) to ensure it effectively maintains orderliness in building construction throughout Plateau State.

These decisive actions reflect Mutfwang’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the restoration of order in the state’s property sector.
