In an effort to address the housing issues confronting public servants, the Plateau State government has announced its intention to collaborate with the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) to build smart housing units in Jos, the state capital.
Speaking to reporters following his meeting with Hauwa Babakobi’s delegation from the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), the state’s commissioner for housing and urban development, Hon. Joshua Ubandoma Laven, stated that the housing scheme would offer low-, middle-, and high-income earners access to affordable housing.
The plateau state governor Caleb Mutfwang, who was represented by, a commissioner stated that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has enlisted the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to help bring the Jos Smart Housing Estate project to reality since it is the administration’s top priority.
When the project is finished, it will reduce insecurity, create jobs for the young, talented people without jobs who are begging on the streets, and promote community life. The significance of housing in fostering social stability in the society.
He stated, “Again, affordable housing plays a crucial role in fostering social stability, improving the lives of individuals and families, and contributing to the general well-being of the people.”
Laven disclosed that the officials of the state government also convened with the nation’s Shelter Afrique Regional Representative, Mrs. Elizabeth Ogonegbu, and her group to facilitate the issuance of a loan with zero percent interest to the developer.
He explained that the necessity to include them stemmed from the fact that Shelter Afrique, a Pan-African financing institution solely promotes the growth of the real estate and affordable housing sectors in African nations.
