The Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (PTD-NUPENG) has called on the federal government to expedite the repair of federal highways for which public funds have been allocated.

The union voiced its concerns regarding its exclusion from the current Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative of the administration.

These resolutions were made during a quarterly National Executive Committee meeting held in Benin, Edo State, over the weekend.

Reports indicate that the federal government approved N42.4 billion and N740 billion for the repair of specific federal highways during its Federal Executive Council meetings in June and October, respectively.

In a communique signed by Comrades Augustine Egbon and Oluchi Chinagorom, the National Chairman and National Secretary of PTD-NUPENG, the union urged relevant federal agencies to ensure that contractors fulfill their obligations and complete the highway repairs before the onset of the rainy season.
