National Executive Council (NEC) of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) on Wednesday endorsed elevation of the Chairman of JEDO Investment Limited, Mr Aliyu Oroji Wamakko to the position of president of REDAN.
NEC gave its nod at its meeting at the headquarters of the association in Abuja.
Wamakko will succeed the incumbent president, Mr Ugochukwu Chime who will soon complete his two-term tenure.
NEC’s action today was in tandem with the association’s rules.
Section 20:6 of the Constitution of REDAN states: “At the expiration of the one term of two years of the president, the First Deputy President shall become the president subject to the simple majority support of the NEC and the approval of the general assembly of members at the designated meeting.”
Wamakko who is the First Deputy President will therefore, be presented to the general assembly in February, 2020 for approval as president.
REDAN, an umbrella body for real estate developers in Nigeria was created in the 90s.
