His Royal Highness Ujeile Ngere, the village head of Ngo Town in Andoni Local Government Area, Rivers State, has expressed grave concerns over a recent order to close markets and restrict movement in the community due to an upcoming burial ceremony. The monarch is urging the Rivers State Government and security agencies to intervene to prevent potential unrest.

During a press briefing in Port Harcourt, King Ngere condemned the publication by a community member that called for these restrictions, emphasizing that it was malicious and could incite chaos. He stated, “This purported order is not only primitive and draconian, but it is an invitation to chaos and has the potential to trigger a communal crisis in Ngo Town.”

The monarch clarified that the individual who issued the order lacks the legal authority to do so, as he is not part of the recognized royal families of Ngo Town. He reiterated that only the governor has the power to declare such restrictions under the law.

Ngere urged the residents to disregard the order and continue their lawful activities, reinforcing that peace and cooperation should prevail in the community. He also called on the Chairman of Andoni Local Government, Lazarus Nteogule, to foster unity and development in the area.
