Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has set up a seven-member special task force to see to the cleanliness of Ilorin, the state capital and other parts of the state in 72 hours.
Inaugurating the special task force in Ilorin on Tuesday, Abdulrazaq charged the members to ensure that the streets in the state capital were free of refuse and inconducive for any kind of diseases that could emanate from a dirty environment.
The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Adisa Logun gave the committee “a marching order to ensure that all the streets in the metropolis are free from dirt and hygienic within a time duration of 72 hours. To make sure all the streets in the capital city of Kwara are clean and habitable.”
While reacting to questions on the possibility of achieving the result in just 72 hours, one of the committee members, Mr Yinka Bello said, “We had covered areas like; Ipata, Oja-Oba, Surulere, Asa-Dam, Taiwo, Unity and still hoping to cover more streets before the end of today.”
He, however, added that provision has been made by the government to ensure proper and regular evacuation of refuse on streets after the expiration of the special team assignment.
Meanwhile, the state government, has warned the people of the state to always ensure they complied with the environmental sanitation laws by dropping refuse at designated places. Punch
