Lagos State Governor, Bababjide Sanwo-Olu, has announced plans to handover and flag-off 270 home units at Egan-Igando Mixed Housing Estate in Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area of the state on Thursday, June 6, tomorrow, as part of measures at bridging housing deficit.
Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, while speaking with pressmen during the site inspection to the housing estate said the eventual flag-off is also in fulfillment of Governor Sanwo-Oluβs pledge to complete all ongoing housing projects in the state.
Akinderu-Fatai said that the Estate will be commissioned, and keys will be handed over to the homeowners which is a critical project aimed at providing affordable and quality housing for the people of Lagos.
He noted that the project was faced with numerous setbacks and challenges including large scale vandalism and theft.
Despite these obstacles, the commissioner said the state government was still committed to delivering the vital project to the people, hence, the strategy of completion by cluster arrangements.
βWe are thrilled to finally break through the barriers that have held us back for so long with the delivery of the first cluster comprising 270 homes,βAkinderu-Fatai said.
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Engr AbdulHafis Toriola, said that the preparation process has been completed by May 31, 2024, paving the way for the official unveiling of the estate.
He charged all stakeholders, including contractors and community members to work together to ensure a smooth and successful delivery.
Toriola expressed the state governmentβs gratitude for the patience, understanding and trust shown by the prospective homeowners who waited for many years for the completion of the housing scheme.
