Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to commission a series of road projects across Lagos, signaling another milestone in his administration’s infrastructural development agenda.
On Thursday, January 9, 2025, six arterial roads spanning 4.7 kilometers in Akoka, Bariga, and Gbagada will be inaugurated. These include St. Finbarr’s Road, Asani Street, Tijani Ashogbon Street, Jagunmolu Street, Shogbamu Street, and Diya Street, forming a crucial link between the University of Lagos Main Gate in Akoka and Deeper Life Church in Gbagada.
The following day, Friday, January 10, 2025, five strategic roads in Ikeja Government Reservation Area (GRA) will also be opened to the public. These roads—Oba Dosumu Street, Oduduwa Way, Oduduwa Crescent, Sobo Arobiodu, and Sasegbon Streets—cover a total of 6.134 kilometers and are equipped with enhanced drainage systems designed to tackle persistent flooding issues in the area.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced that these projects align with the state government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure and ease transportation for residents.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his commitment to upgrading old roads and constructing new ones to meet the demands of Lagosians. He also urged residents to safeguard the newly completed roads against vandalism, ensuring their sustainability for years to come.
The projects reflect the administration’s broader vision to enhance mobility, reduce flooding, and boost economic activity in Lagos State.
