The Sokoto State government has promised N100 million, free land among other incentives for prospective investors.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu made the promise while inaugurating the state’s Council on Ease of Doing Business Tuesday in Sokoto.
The governor said the council was neglected by the immediate past government as a result of which the state missed a lot of interventions. “We are fully committed to repositioning the committee to address the challenges affecting the growth and development of our economy as well as remove all bureaucratic bottlenecks in order to access various forms of interventions. “We are making necessary arrangements to sponsor trade missions to some selective countries as part of our efforts to boost foreign direct investment.
“We have marshalled out incentives such as tax holidays for some time, free land, facilitation of entry permit and N100 million investment among others for the prospective investors,” he reiterated.
The council, chaired by the deputy governor of the state, Engineer Idris Gobir has Commissioners of Commerce; Budget and Economic Planning; Finance; Land and Housing; Agriculture; Water Resources; Works and Transport, Local Government as members, and the Secretary to the State Government as secretary.
Meanwhile, the governor also inaugurated the Council on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to boost local businesses. The council is chaired by the Commissioner for Commerce.
