Rainstorms have caused extensive destruction in the Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, leading to the collapse of numerous school infrastructures and staff quarters. The severe weather event struck on June 22, 2025, leaving educational institutions in disarray.

The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the damage. The State Commissioner, Zainab Musawa, highlighted the emotional toll on affected schools, staff, and their families. The Ministry is currently assessing the extent of the damage and has vowed to support those impacted by the calamity.

Musawa emphasized the importance of continuing school activities despite the challenges, urging management to maintain student attendance and academic continuity. As the Ministry works on recovery plans, updates will be provided to the public regarding further assistance.
