The Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) has restated its commitment to using technology to deal with environmental issues.

The Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Lagos Branch, Adeleke Adesina, revealed this at the Year’s Mandatory Continuous Professional Development (MCPD) Programme, themed: “Relevance of surveyors in the control of flood using drone data”.

Speaking at the programme held via Zoom, Adesina said the event was aimed at updating the knowledge of members to enable them to take advantage of technological advancement in survey practice and address environmental issues

He said the institution plans to ensure that all surveyors are well equipped to provide accurate survey data as this would enhance quality job delivery.

The Chairman, MCPD Programme Committee, Deji Sebiotimo, said the programme was aimed at updating members on the application of mapping in flood-prone areas.

Sebiotimo urged members to develop the sound scientific-based technical judgment that could add value to society.

He noted that the quest for sustainable development in Lagos State requires the use of available resources to solve flooding issues. The Guardian
