The Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Highway in Oyo State has been inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu.
The 76.76-kilometer Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Motorway in Oyo State was formally opened on Thursday in Ogbomoso by President Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Shettima, who was accompanied by the Kwara State Governor and Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Abdulraman Abdulrazak, commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to infrastructure development and his fulfilment of his pledge to improve the state’s road system.
Governor Makinde renamed the motorway, formerly known as the Iseyin-Apewo Village Junction-Ahoro Dada-Fatope-Ogbomoso Road, in honour of the late Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former governor of the state. Covering 76.76 km and passing through multiple settlements on its route from Iseyin to Ogbomoso, the road is extremely important to the area.
Vice President Shettima underlined Oyo State’s significance as his second home while expressing his fondness for it. He promised that Makinde’s attempts to establish the state as Nigeria’s centre for agronomy would have the backing of the president.
