President Bola Tinubu has directed the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriageway within 14 months, according to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris.
The road, divided into three sections—Abuja-Kaduna, Kaduna-Zaria, and Zaria-Kano—will include scarification, pulverization of old surfaces, embankment filling, reinforced drains, and solar lighting, ensuring durability for up to 100 years. Idris explained that the previous contractor, who proposed a three-year timeline, was replaced to meet the new deadline.
“Nigerians are eager for the road’s completion, and no delays will be tolerated,” he said.
Minister of Works David Umahi noted that additional extensions to Aminu Kano International Airport and Abuja-Lokoja are included. Emergency repairs are already underway to ease commuter challenges.
The rehabilitation project aims to address years of neglect and deterioration, ensuring a safer, long-lasting road network for travelers.
