Those who build private houses in public areas in the Games Village, Abuja will be made to face the law, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello has promised.
The minister made this promise in Abuja on Friday during an on-the-spot assessment tour of sites and service facilities in the FCT Games Village, following a petition by residents of the village over encroachment on public spaces by private housing developers.
The Chief Press Secretary to FCTA administration, Cosmas Uzodinma said the minister visited the village to see things for himself.
According to the minister, the FCT administration will dispense justice on all land appeals and petitions in Abuja.
Bello assured that the complaints made in Games Village would be promptly investigated in order to address the concerns of the residents.
He decried the unwholesome activities of land grabbers in the FCT whom he said, are distorting the Abuja master-plan.
He warned them to desist from such activities or be made to face the full weight of the law.
Viewpoint Housing News reports that the Association of Games Village Estate residents had petitioned the FCT administration over developers who build private houses on spaces reserved for public facilities in the Games Village.
Chairman, Board of Trustees of Games Village, Abdullahi Yahaya said, “We’re most grateful for the Honourable Minister’s attention and we hope everything will be okay as he has taken up our matter now and under his tenure, we believe the estate will be better.”
