New president of Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) Dr Aliyu Wamako is billed to present a paper at the forthcoming Building Collapse conference holding in Abuja.

Wamako who is Chairman of JEDO Investment Limited has been known to have built many estates in Niger State, Sokoto State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The conference jointly organised by Viewpoint Housing News and Daily Trust newspaper will hold on April 7 and 8, 2020 at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja.

Wamako will speak on Provision of Standard Housing under a Distressed Economy.

Nigeria went through recess in 2015, causing downturn in many sectors of the economy.

The housing sector was hard hit as many developers were left with unsold stocks.

As a result, many developers could not exit loans they took for their projects.

It is therefore, expected that the REDAN president will guide developers through the labyrinths of building under a tough economy.

Key players in the construction sector from public and private sectors like facility managers, Federal Ministries of Works and Housing and Environment, SON, FMBN, QSRBN, FHA, Federal Fire Service, REDAN, NIA, NIQS, NSE, NIOB, NBRRI, producers of building materials and others will be at the conference.

Viewpoint Housing News reports that between 2018 and 2019, 40 cases of building collapse were recorded.

At least 103 people died while 265 sustained injuries from 58 building collapse incidents in the last two years.
