The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria(REDAN), delivered its good will message at the media launch of the national social housing programme model house and information portal that took place at dei dei, in Abuja today, Wednesday 16th of December 2020.

The president of the organization, Alh. (DR.)Aliyu Oroji Wamakkogave an appreciation speech for the invitation to the eventby Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL), the Implementing Agency for this commendable housing initiative.

Wamakko stated that on behalf of the entire leadership and members of REDAN, we compliment the Federal Government administration under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Economic Sustainability Committee supervised by Vice president Yemi Osinbajo, for the initiative to build 300,000 housing units annually as a response to challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, under the Economic Sustainability Plan. This represents the 1st major intervention in housing development in the past decades.

we believe the programme will lead to the increase in national housing stock thereby reducing Nigeria’s housing deficit.

The president of REDAN, Aliyu Wamakko said the association is ready to participate in the delivery of NSHP upon state governments provision of land and infrastructure nationwide.

As housing is a vital tool for economic development, the programm will create enormous employment for the citizens of the country and not only providing shelter for the masses but creating a source of livelihood for the people. Beneficiaries of this housing scheme are those in the lower financial income bracket who are in dare need of a decent and comfortable home.

We commend the unveiling of this programme by the FHFL Management in building a Model 1 and 2-bedroom home ‘to meet the target pricing of the NSHP’.

/The model will enable the participating stakeholders to have firsthand view of the scheme.

REDAN commends FHFL for her interest in projecting a course of collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the provision of affordable housing. They are our strong allies in the REDAN Rural-Urban Housing Initiative to build at least 100 housing units in each of the 774 Local Government of Nigeria including the FCT where viable and feasible to enable Nigerians own homes in places of their choice.

REDAN calls on the government to initiate policies that will create an enabling environment for us to collectively increase the stock of housing and notably reduce the housing deficit.
