Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated the Sunrise Waterpark, a top-notch entertainment area that is said to be the largest in West Africa.
Situated atop Asokoro Hill, the vast establishment offers a commanding view of Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja, and the surrounding urban area.
The minister stated that the Waterpark’s construction—which is also hailed as the most cutting-edge in the sub-region—is evidence of the FCT’s thriving and promising tourist industry.
He praised Sunrise and Nadeem Group of Companies for their steadfast dedication and vision in executing the project and seeing it through to completion in the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT citizens will no longer need to travel outside of the city or even the nation to unwind and have fun, he said, adding that the foreign exchange that would be saved would also be better used in other areas of the Territory’s economy.
The minister encouraged people living in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to visit the Waterpark and take use of its attractions, while also advising the park’s administrators to uphold a very high level in their operations to attract business from the city’s citizens as well as those in adjacent states.
“The FCT has a lot of sites that have the potential of becoming great tourism sites, such as the fishing site in Yaba, where I understand the FCT fishing festival was being held, the Ushafa Pottery centre and not forgetting the millennium tower project.
“It would be a pleasure to see private sector investors coming to these areas and giving them a new breath of life. Our doors remain open for discussions on possible incentives for investors. We want to see Abuja grow and live up to its potential in this sector,” Wike said.
