Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has once again refuted claims that he allocated land to any of his children. Lere Olayinka, his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, addressed these allegations, labeling them as unfounded attempts at blackmail.
In a statement, Olayinka emphasized that no land has been allocated to Wike’s children and criticized those spreading the rumors as engaging in ineffective propaganda. He pointed out that recent claims about Wike allocating 2,082 hectares of land in Asokoro and Maitama were baseless, noting that such land does not exist in those districts. Instead, the documents cited by the accusers pertained to land allocated for farming in the Bwari Area Council to a company called JOAQ Farms.
Olayinka further clarified that while Wike’s children, like any Nigerian citizens, have the right to own land, there has been no allocation made to them. He confirmed that land was indeed allocated to Jordan Farms and Estates Limited, a registered company in Nigeria, but insisted that none of Wike’s children are directors of this company. He challenged anyone making these claims to provide evidence of ownership from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Using an analogy, Olayinka stated that just because one of Wike’s sons shares a name with the company Jordan Farms and Estates Limited does not imply any ownership connection. He likened this to his own name being associated with a local government in Kaduna State, which does not mean he owns it.
The statement concluded by urging those behind the allegations to exert more effort in their attempts to discredit the FCT Minister, as their previous attempts had already failed. Olayinka reaffirmed that Wike remains committed to his developmental agenda for the FCT, aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
