Abuja – February 15, 2024 – Viewpoint Housing News.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has threatened to place Setraco Nigeria Ltd on a blacklist for reportedly requesting a contract modification on the continued building of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Motorway and the Ring Road 1 stretch of the Southern Parkway, which connects Abuja’s Area 11, Central Area, Area 3, and Durumi.
Wike reaffirmed that the variation problem was off the table and that the FCT Administration, which is under his supervision, would not accept it. He made the statement on Wednesday while inspecting a few road projects that received significant funding.

He maintained that, although the organisation had not supplied street lights, according to the documents, the FCTA had paid 97% of the project’s cost. When questioned, the managing director of the company had mentioned variations.

He made a threat, saying, “The fact is, I’m going to blacklist the company if they don’t finish on time. Nobody will try to outwit us or play games with us. Therefore,  it would not be accepted, the variant problem is not on our agenda.
After meeting with the minister, Ziad Mouannes, the managing director of Setraco Nigeria Ltd., demanded that the company be given the opportunity to meet with FCTA authorities in order to resolve the issue.

He stated that as the company was still dedicated to the project, more discussions with the FCTA were welcome in order to resolve and address the street light problem.
