The Gombe State Water Board has announced a temporary halt in water supply due to damage caused by a recent windstorm that affected the power line supplying the Dadinkowa Water Treatment Plant.

General Manager Abubakar Muhammad reported that the storm has impeded water production and distribution to Gombe and surrounding areas. In a statement, he explained that emergency repairs are underway and technical teams have been dispatched to restore power and resume normal operations.

“Our engineers are working diligently to fix the damage,” Muhammad stated. “Once repairs are complete, we will increase water production and resume supply.”

The Water Board has appealed for public patience during this disruption, acknowledging the inconvenience it may cause residents. They emphasized their commitment to minimizing the outage duration.

In a follow-up interview, Muhammad indicated that repair work is progressing well, with essential materials already procured. He expects the repairs to be completed within one to two days, pending logistical arrangements.

He attributed the windstorm’s impact to climate change, noting that similar weather events have occurred previously and underscoring the need for effective emergency response plans.
