Yobe State Government Signs N22.3bn Contract for Flyover and Underpass

The Yobe State Government has officially signed a contract valued at N22.3 billion for the construction of a modern flyover bridge and underpass at the Damaturu Main Roundabout. The agreement was executed by the state’s Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Duddaye, on behalf of the government, while Engr. Habib Geojea represented the contracting firm, Merss Triacta Nigeria Limited.

Emphasizing the administration’s dedication to infrastructure development, Engr. Duddaye stated that Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration has prioritized significant infrastructural projects, which include roads, bridges, and drainage systems. The flyover and underpass are expected to be completed within 12 months.

Additionally, a separate contract has been awarded for the construction of the Damaturu-Gambir road to Merss Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited, with a completion timeline of nine months. Duddaye noted that the transformation of Damaturu Metropolis will include the construction of 23.5 kilometers of roads and 27 kilometers of concrete drainage systems.

Plans are also underway to resurface all major roads in the state capital, set to commence in the second quarter of 2025. The area manager from Triacta Nigeria Limited assured that the project would adhere to the highest quality standards in line with the contractual agreement.
