As a resultant effect of Covid-19, social distancing and the enforced stay at home got us into a new way of living and this may not change soon, it is likely to stick around past the COVID-19 era. Already, it is said that there has been increase in the number of persons affected with the virus since the relaxed lockdown in the third quarter of the year. Another lockdown is likely to be on the horizon.

The idea of what is necessary is changing, the home is becoming more than a living space. It means that many are beginning to evaluate how they live in their homes and what matters most to them when buying a home, considerations are changing.

Covid- 19 came with a wave of lockdown measures across the world where governments forced their citizens to stay at home to curtail the spread of the virus and later relaxing the lockdown. It also encouraged everyone to observe social distancing, a terrifying new experience. This may have caused more than a few to relocate out of crowded to less crowded places in search of more room, space to breathe and carry out their daily activities.

As people relocate to other areas, housing criteria are changing, people are beginning to make more consideration of what they need in an environment like homes with more space, some type of view or a good spacious backyard before relocating.

Also, with more companies allowing their workforce to work from home, many people are no longer tied to a specific area for employment. Number of bedrooms like 2, 3 or 4 may no longer be a yardstick alone for renting or building a home without rooms that can be used as spaces for work. This may likely continue.

The Zoom Application has benefitted from the coronavirus and the enforced stay at home. Prior to the outbreak of coronavirus, zoom was not heard or made use of previously than now.

Videoconferencing from home, whether you are an employee or a student, is a new normal. If this trend persists, we may start seeing buyers, sellers and agents making demands for a Zoom room as part of a home’s feature before transacting business.

Zoom conferencing is a dedicated room or corner of your home or office that features an aesthetically pleasing background for your videoconference calls. Zoom rooms are free of household properties and typically set aside from the most busy parts of a home.

A separate video room trend is likely to persist for buyers even after COVID-19. When the pandemic was intense and lockdown enforced, we saw many parents beginning to have good time for their homes, thereby, giving them a good view of what the home has always been.

Homeowners were having the time to add more creativity to their homes and the environment that will make them feel more comfortable.

With the COVID-19 and the way the virus spreads, people are beginning to pay more attention to hygiene, they do not want a home that looks dirty.
It will not be surprising to see intending homeowners focusing more on spaces when trying to build or own a home as lessons learnt from the impact of the virus. Some buyers may be willing to settle for a smaller house or a house in a less desirable area in order to have a large space where they can have more open air.
