The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) management has received an urgent caution from Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike over their purported encroachment on land allotted for FCT projects.
Wike highlighted his pleasure with the development during an inspection of current infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recently . He also expressed concern over alleged impediments made by a member of the House of Representatives and the CBN.
Wike underlined how crucial it is that organisations like the central bank respect the allotted land borders and don’t create needless obstacles. He promised to oppose any encroachment and pleaded with the management of the bank to permit the land’s usage for public benefit.
Wike expressed his dissatisfaction by saying, “We have observed some interference from the Central Bank, which we will not tolerate.
As you can see, one issue with institutions is that when they request for and are granted land, they tend to overuse it, which leads to blockage. I have always maintained that we shall not take anything for granted as public servants. We therefore demand that, the Central Bank to grant us permission to utilise our property in the public good.
The minister also slammed the House of Representatives member’s attempts to obstruct construction work in Guzape district of the federal capital.
Wike reiterated his pledge to the public to deliver promptly and with excellent projects, saying, “We are pleased with Julius Berger’s work in the B6 and D12 Area. Additionally, as you have heard from the company’s representative, they plan to turn it over by May.
