An Abuja-based entrepreneur, Mr. Friday Osamudiamen Roney, has firmly denied allegations that he orchestrated an attack on Akpes Mega Plaza, located at Oni Street in Benin City, Edo State.
Speaking through a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Roney called for an urgent and thorough investigation into the allegations, which he described as completely baseless.
Roney, who said he has not visited Benin City in the last two years, expressed shock over the accusations. He also alleged that he has been subjected to falsehood, criminal defamation, threats to life, cyber-stalking, and harassment — acts he attributed to one Mr. Osaze Adun, popularly known as Kapuapua.
In the petition dated April 17, 2025, and filed through his lawyer, Barbara B. Salihu, Roney stated:
“Mr. Osaze Adun, in a video, erroneously stated that our client attacked one premises named Akpes Mega Plaza at Oni Street in Benin City.”
He further clarified that his only connection with Akpes Mega Plaza was a business transaction in 2019, which is currently under investigation by the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja.
“The investigation is ongoing. So why would I resort to self-help if I have already reported the matter?” Roney questioned.
The entrepreneur revealed that he became aware of the allegations after receiving multiple messages from acquaintances showing a video posted by Adun via the TikTok handle @nominddem, where Adun made several claims against him.
According to Roney, the said video constituted cyber-bullying and criminal defamation, and called for the Edo State governor to prosecute him over a purported shooting incident.
“These recent occurrences of deliberately orchestrated falsehoods prove that there exist criminal conspiracies against me,” Roney added.
In his defense, Osaze Adun insisted that his TikTok video was justified, alleging that Roney had previously issued threats against him.
