A severe windstorm in Garba-Chede, located in the Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, has resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals and injured thirty others.
Residents, including Abubakar Dodo, reported that the storm caused extensive damage, describing it as the most devastating in recent years. Schools, mosques, churches, and shops were destroyed, along with food supplies worth millions of naira.
The Chief of Garba-Chede, Kaigama Maigandi, has called on Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas to assist the victims in rebuilding their homes and businesses affected by the storm.
In response, a delegation from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) visited the community to assess the damage and identify areas for potential intervention. Led by Dr. Balutu Isa Mohammed, the team expressed condolences to the victims and assured residents of the commission’s commitment to providing support and relief materials.
During their visit, the delegation also met with Chief Maigandi to discuss their mission and next steps.
